I am Mel, connected in ways I can feel but don't really understand to the place I was born - South Africa. I'd like to acknowledge everyone for whom their current place is not the place to which they feel most connected and alive. I am here, Lutruwita - Tasmania. There are no living speakers of the original Tasmanian languages and there are only two people who have been recorders of Tasmanian place names. I offer my quiet respects to elders past, present, and emerging.
